Back to School

I am not going to lie. Taking my son to kindergarten makes me feel old!

Monka's First day of Kindergarten was a success! I for sure thought that I was going to be one of those parents sobbing and being escorted out of the classroom. Thank goodness I got that out of the way when he went to Pre-K! I think it was easier this time around because I knew that he would be okay...nervous no doubt but I knew he was comfortable with a classroom structured setting. It was so cute because he kept telling me how nervous he was. I don't think I have ever heard him say he was nervous about anything.
Marvin and I swapped stories about our first days of school - in hopes to make Monka feel better. I hope he was able to understand how fortunate he is to have his parents both  drop him off and stay a bit because apparently for our first days...once upon a time.. we got dropped off like hot potatoes!
I know he was pretty bummed that his Pre-School friends all went to different schools but I tried comforting him with another story. This time about meeting one of my best friends (present day) in Kindergarten.  I told him we weren't even in the same class but we met during recess on the monkey bars. I don't think he really grasped the moral of my story. Oh well. He will find his own way to get adjusted to this new experience, school, home away from home!

Cheers to a new school year!
